The Professional Nurses Association of WNY confers the following awards at our annual awards banquet each June:
The Ruth T. McGrorey Award is the Professional Nurses Association of WNY’s most prestigious award and honors an active, contributing member of our Association who is innovative in his/her area of nursing practice, has published or presented professional programs, has made a general impact on nursing practice, research or education and as a representative of nursing is active in relating to a variety of professional and community groups.
NURSE OF DISTINCTION AWARDS(2)
Nurse of Distinction Awards - this award is co-sponsored by the Buffalo News. This is the 29th year that the Buffalo News has co-sponsored our Nurse of Distinction Award. The recipients receive a plaque and $500.
NURSE OF DISTINCTION AWARD
NURSE OF DISTINCTION IN EDUCATION AWARD
These awards honor RNs who make outstanding contributions to the nursing profession, have demonstrated leadership that provides a role model to inspire other nurses to improve and participates in activities that foster a positive public image of nursing as a profession.
COMMUNITY RECOGNIZED DISTINGUISHED NURSE
This award honors a Western New York nurse who went above and beyond for their patients and community. Please note that this is a community nomination. Health care facilities, colleagues or supervisors are not eligible to nominate nurses in this category.
OUTSTANDING STAFF NURSE AWARD
Outstanding Staff Nurse Award - - this award is cosponsored by the West Herr Automotive Group - the recipients receive a plaque and $500. This award is given to a current member of the PNAWNY who has a minimum of 3 years experience as a staff nurse and provides exceptional direct patient care within nursing standards. This nurse also acts as a role model for their peers, excels at family and inter-professional collaboration, and demonstrates and ongoing interest in professional growth and development. |
CHRISTINA SLAZAK SCHOLARSHIP AWARD PURPOSE: To provide a monetary award to a Registered Nurse seeking BSN, graduate education in nursing, or certification. CRITERIA: The applicant must:1. Be a member of the Professional Nurses Association of WNY 2. Be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse. 3. 1 or more year experience in nursing. 4. Demonstrate the desire for professional growth: a) 2 Letters of recommendation. b) Personal statement discussing professionalism in practice and participation in the workplace 5. Have completed application form, statement, and letters of recommendation submitted to the office of the PNA of WNY no later than 5:00 PM on April 9, 2024. 6. Be available to receive the scholarship at the Awards celebration on June 4, 2024. Recipients receive a monetary award. Recipients are students currently matriculated in an accredited school of nursing. Applicants must demonstrate scholastic and clinical ability as verified by a copy of transcripts and letters of recommendation from two members of the nursing facility/organization. Recipients are students currently matriculated in an accredited school of nursing within the geographic boundaries of the Professional Nurses Association of WNY. Applicants must demonstrate scholastic and clinical ability as verified by a copy of transcripts and letters of recommendation from two members of the nursing facility.
