BOARD OF DIRECTORS AWARD
The Board of Directors Award is awarded to someone or organization outside of the nursing profession who contributes significantly to the profession by their actions.
RUTH T. MCGROREY AWARD
The Ruth T. McGrorey Award is the Professional Nurses Association of WNY’s most prestigious award and honors an active, contributing member of our Association who is innovative in his/her area of nursing practice, has published or presented professional programs, has made a general impact on nursing practice, research or education and as a representative of nursing is active in relating to a variety of professional and community groups.
The 2017 Ruth T, McGrorey Award was presented to Julie A. Woodworth, PhD, MSN, RN, CNE. Dr.Woodworth was nominated by Diane Roth, DHAc, MSN, RN from Niagara Community College.
NURSE OF DISTINCTION AWARD & NURSE OF DISTINCTION IN EDUCATION AWARD
Nurse of Distinction Awards - - this award is cosponsored by the Buffalo News - the recipients receive a plaque and $500. This is the 26th year that The Buffalo News has co-sponsored our Nurse of Distinction Award.
These awards honor RNs who make outstanding contributions to the nursing profession, have demonstrated leadership that provides a role model to inspire other nurses to improve and participates in activities that foster a positive public image of nursing as a profession. There is also a Nurse of Distinction in Education Award that honors a top nurse educator in the WNY area.
The Nurse of Distinction award was presented to Rose Bell, PhD, RN, APCNP. Rose was honored for demonstrating excellence in clinical care, nursing research and education in both military and civilian roles.
The Nurse of Distinction in Education award was presented to Cheryl Nosek, DNS, RN, CNE. Dr. Nosek was honored for her active involvement in promoting the highest quality nursing education, her leadership abilities and for fostering a positive image of nursing as a profession through her volunteer work.
